What talent performed on Friday, August 16th at the Community Center for our Verde Village Variety Show! Many of the community came to enjoy the show and support the VVVCC with this fundraiser. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it all possible!

August Shea singing Touchy Feely Fool by AJR and Cigarette Dreams by Cage the Elephant
A teen musician, music composer and music producer, he picked up the acoustic guitar 4 years ago. You may have heard him perform last year in the VVCC Talent Show. He has a DAW – Digital Audio Workspace to mix and compose music, which is like photoshop for music. His inspiration for his compositions is the musical group AJR and the unique sounds they make which is a mix of live sounds and electronic modulation.
Dred, the Mentalist
Fred Osborn is Dred the Mentalist, a supernatural entertainer with an extraordinary talent for mind reading and thought influencing. He takes you on an incredible journey through the wonders of the human brain sprinkled with comedy and fun.
Payton Maldonado singing “Talking to the Moon”
This puckish 13-year-old has a big heart and likes to be helpful. He is an avid reader of sci fi and fantasy and keeps his imagination active playing Dungeons and Dragons. His song reminds him of his Mom, as she loves the moon. Singing it allows him to feel a variety of emotions.
Bo the Ventriloquist with Hambone the Pig
Tammy Hamada is Bo onstage. She has been a ventriloquist since the age of twelve. She got interested watching Winchell Mahoney Time on TV. She asked for a “Danny O’Day” ventriloquist dummy for Christmas and the rest is history. Bo brings Hambone the pig to stage and helps him understand his freedom and favorite foods.
Daniel Maldonado accompanied by Mike Gilbert on acoustic guitar with Perfect by Ed Sheeran
Daniel sings accompanied by Mike playing acoustic guitar. They love the lyrics and collaboration as they are old friends. They had their own band in 2000’s called Written in Red doing cover songs and some originals by Mike.
Marianna Tripp singing Crazy by Patsy Cline and Orange-Colored Sky
Marianna is the retired owner of the hair salon “Zazi” in Cottonwood. She is an active member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was the Cottonwood Idol 2014 runner-up where she sang Orange Colored Sky.
Isaac Bills with clean-cut comedy laced with witty songs
Isaac is the Worship Pastor at Cross Church Cornville and Verde Christian Academy. He has a background in theater and his claim to fame is that he once opened for Adam Sandler at Flappers Comedy Club in California. He says that half the things he does in life is for material for his comedy bits.
Michael Steele and Jill Whitener with the Mozart Flute and Clarinet Duet – Duo #2
Jill is a retired music educator who still teaches privately. Michael – “Magical Michael Steele” does magic, yo-yo and card tricks for events and parties. Michael and Jill have enjoyed playing duets together once a week for about a year.
Bo the Ventriloquist with Growing Old with Rose
Tammy Hamada is Bo onstage. She has been a ventriloquist since the age of twelve. She attended a Ventriloquist Convention this summer where she got to rub shoulders with and get a selfie with ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham. Bo brings Rose to the stage and we find out what her afternoon activities might be.
Aislinn Maldonado with “Something to Ponder” by George Carlin
Retired Professional Organizer, Model and Author, Aislinn is also a motivation junkie! She was inspired by this speech when she was the President of a Toastmasters Club in the West Valley. Now she hopes its words will move and motivate you. Just as relevant back then as it is today, maybe more so!
Payton and Daniel Maldonado with “Who’s on First” done by Abbot and Costello
Payton asked his father to do an act with him and the result is this bit by Abbot and Costello. Payton loves to build Harry Potter sets out of Legos, and sometimes Daniel joins in. Like father, like son, music is a big part of their lives. This time they chose comedy to perform.
